## TrueNAS 27.0.0-RC.1
===This is a RC release of software available to early adopters who wish to evaluate new features===

TrueNAS 26 is renamed TrueNAS 27, and this is the first release under the new name. TrueNAS 27-RC.1 adds the TrueNAS Object Interface (Early Access), hardens iSCSI, Fibre Channel, and NFS target reliability, fixes an HA split-brain risk, resolves an upgrade regression that could leave the web UI unavailable, and includes a broad set of WebUI and Apps bug fixes.

==**Breaking Changes (updating from 25.10.X):** The REST API is removed in TrueNAS 27. Migrate integrations to the WebSocket API before upgrading.==

- **New Features:**
  - Adds the TrueNAS Object Interface (Early Access): native S3-API object storage where each bucket is a ZFS dataset, managed from the WebUI. Versioning and Object Lock require a TrueNAS Connect Plus license or TrueNAS Enterprise.
  - Container delete now runs as a background job with **Force** and **Recursive** options.
  - USB passthrough devices in the VM and Container UI are now identified by physical port instead of vendor/product ID, so replugs and reboots no longer change device identity.
- **Improvements:** Linux kernel 6.18.52, OpenZFS 2.4.4, TrueSearch performance on shares with about 1 million files, TrueSearch built with Go 1.25.12 for upstream security fixes, consistent pool usage indicator thresholds between the main **Dashboard** and **Storage Dashboard**, clearer SMB audit log event labeling, updated default certificate signing requests for HTTPS and TrueNAS Connect.
- **Critical Bug Fixes:** Resolved a kernel panic from NFS session slot replay during client reconnects, a VRRP IPv6 issue that could let both HA controllers become MASTER for the same virtual IP, several iSCSI/Fibre Channel target driver crashes (SCST LUN removal race, session reassignment, target unregistration, iSER connection teardown), intermittent NFS permission denied errors for Active Directory and LDAP users, a web UI outage after upgrade on systems with many RSA-4096 certificates, and a bug that could relocate and re-permission a user home directory when editing the account.

=== **Key Known Issues:** Updating from 25.10.X disrupts two-factor authentication for accounts with a token interval other than 30 or 60 seconds. The **Backup Tasks** dashboard card does not display TrueCloud Backup or Periodic Snapshot tasks. ===
